Don't Worry About Tomorrow
You do not know what tomorrow will bring.
You have no idea. Zip. All the positive thinking in the world can’t change the fact that you really have no control over tomorrow. But yet, we do try to plan out tomorrow, down to the nitty gritty details.. and then we worry about those details.. we lose sleep over them..
Mat 6:34 - “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
We spend a lot of time worrying about tomorrow. Im not 100% convinced that we can’t worry bout tomorrow in one way or another. I think it’s ingrained in our DNA or something. We worry about our tomorrow, we worry about our kids tomorrow, our kids worry about tomorrow, we worry about wether or not we will have a job tomorrow, we worry about war tomorrow…
We have things to worry about. No doubt.
So, we worry. The truth is, wether you worry or you don’t, over valid issues, or made up ones, the problems will still be there in the morning.. one thing may pass, another pops up.. Tomorrows problems never go away. Just like laundry and dirty dishes… The thing about tomorrow, is that it is always beyond our reach. It will never be in our grasp.
Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday.
Tomorrow is the future, and we can only deal with the present… or at least try to anyway… But that worry takes a toll.
Mat 6:27 - And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
A literal translation is “add a cubit (18”) to your height..” But either way it is true..
When we let the worries of tomorrow control us, when we let the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things to enter in, they suffocate and choke us.. they take away hours from our life, and to add injury to insult.. we shrink… That is science…
Imagine how much taller we would be if we didn’t worry… some of us may be 6 feet tall.
Listen, satan wants you worried. He wants you to live a life of fear. He wants you immobilized because of fear. Makes you easier to manipulate, but as it says in Philippians..
Phl 4:6 - do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
What does that mean. It means, Tomorrow is in Gods hands… and God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow… so give your anxiety to the Lord, give the day to the Lord, give tomorrow to the Lord…
And therefore, when it is in Gods hands, worrying about tomorrow is foolish…
So, do not be anxious. Don’t let your spirits get crushed. Don’t lose Hope.
You may not know what tomorrow brings. God does.
